Things to see and do
With more than enough to fill a whole day, there’s so much to see and do at Martin Mere Wetland Centre.

Hand-feed birds
Getting up close to birds is one of the unforgettable joys of visiting us. Watch your learners’ faces light up at this amazing experience.

Meet our otters
Spot our otters in their specially built wetland habitat. Watch them play, feed and interact to find out how they are adapted to their wetland home.

Take a walk on the wild side
Bring your wellies and venture off the beaten track in our ‘Wild Walk’. Discover our wobbly bridge, balance beams, reedy paths, stepping stones and secluded dens. A real adventure for children of all ages.

Watch wildlife from our child-friendly hides
Our Discovery Hide, with its comfy seats, huge windows, binoculars and ID books is the ideal introduction to viewing the thousands of swans, geese, ducks and waders which visit Martin Mere.

Enjoy watery fun
Our adventure playground has slides, climbing towers, a zip-wire, rope-walks and swings as well as a wet play area. This can be reserved for your school’s exclusive use at the time of booking.

Discover endangered species
Our founder, Sir Peter Scott, rescued Hawaiian geese from extinction. Today, we are still doing this for other species around the world. At Martin Mere learners can get up close to some of these birds and learn their dramatic stories.

Purchase goody-bags for your class
Many schools combine use of the play area with visiting our nearby gift shop, where lots of pocket-money items are available. We can pre-prepare goody bags ready for your arrival.

View exotic birds from around the world
Look out for our European and South American flamingos, dance and hoot with the cranes and listen to our white storks loudly clacking their bills. You might even see a wild heron as you explore...
Learning sessions
We can also deliver fun, hands-on learning sessions for your learners
