Our purpose-built raised ponds are full of fascinating creatures for your learners to discover. They provide fantastic opportunities for pond dipping in a safe and secure environment. Book our expert-led pond dipping session and you’ll be amazed what your learners discover.

Meet our otter
Meet our otter and find out how otters are adapted to their wetland home. We also have other amazing mammals to spot such as harvest mice and water voles at our Back from the Brink exhibit.

Watch our amazing bird demonstrations
Watch one of our incredible bird demonstrations in our stunning Living Wetland Theatre then walk through the brand new Waterscapes Aviary to immerse yourselves in the sights and sounds of a UK wetland.

Get up close to amazing amphibians

Explore our wildlife through art and photography
Every season at Slimbridge is varied; be inspired by the vibrant colours throughout and get up close to birds, recording their incredible adaptations for art and photography projects. Visit our indoor art gallery and our new outdoor sculpture by reclaimed metal artist, Jason Lane.

Watch wildlife from our child-friendly hides
For chilled out wildlife watching, visit our South Lake Discovery hide which comes complete with comfy chairs, a telescope and ID books, perfect for any class starting out. Binoculars can be borrowed from our learning team to further enhance this experience.

Enjoy watery fun at Welly Boot Land
Make a splash in Welly Boot Land! With waterwheels, bridges, fountains and streams, your learners will love our watery playground. But the fun doesn’t stop there! Our ‘Riverlife’ outdoor playground offers a chance for further adventure.

Gain spectacular views of the River Severn
With two towers offering spectacular panoramic views across the River Severn, Slimbridge is a great place to visit if you are studying rivers or migratory birds. Our brand new Estuary Tower is fully accessible and includes two floors and an open terrace.

Experience the life of an arctic researcher
Experience what it would be like to live on the Arctic Tundra as a real life WWT researcher in our interactive Arctic Adventure exhibit. Plan a tundra hut meal, dress up as a researcher and use binoculars to identify the different arctic bird species.

Discover the incredible life of Sir Peter Scott
Our founder, Sir Peter Scott, was the son of the Antarctic explorer, Robert Falcon Scott. A world renowned painter and Olympic bronze medallist, he also helped set up WWF. An amazing life that makes a great local history study.
