Explore our ponds
Our purpose-built raised ponds offer a safe and secure environment, full of fascinating creatures for your learners to discover. Book our expert-led pond dipping session and view a variety of pond creatures live on screen, using our underwater camera.

Hand feed birds
Getting up close to some very rare birds is one of the unforgettable joys of visiting us. See your learners’ faces light up at this amazing experience.

Fabulous flamingos
Our beautiful Chilean flamingos are a spectacular sight to see. Visit at feeding time to find out more about their adaptations to wetland life.

Enjoy our urban oasis
Lose yourself in 45 hectares of stunning wetland vistas and contemplative corners. Washington Wetland Centre is a natural wonder rarely found so close to major urban centres. A great place for learners to de-stress, improving their mental wellbeing. Simply be, in peaceful habitats.

Meet our otters
Meet our otter family. Watch them play, feed and interact and find out how they are adapted to their wetland home.

Investigate our Waterlab
Check out our colourful Waterlab where you can learn about the water cycle and explore our award-winning garden which includes features that help save water and minimise flooding.

Watch wildlife from our child-friendly hides
For chilled out wildlife watching, visit our bird hides at Saline Lagoon, Hawthorn Wood and Wader Lake which are perfect for any class starting out. Use our ID books to identify different species and borrow our binoculars to further enhance this experience.

Let off steam
Your learners can play and enjoy the fresh air in our outdoor Playscape. Scramble nets, climbing frames and water play make this adventure playground a mini explorer’s paradise, perfect for kids of all ages.
